Event Details

We are hosting another wine tasting, this time capped at 12 people. The theme is UK vs France sparkling wine and we will also be serving some french and British cheeses. The event will take place between 17:30-20:30 Saturday the 25th of May. We will test 4 sparkling wines blind and then get a bit of more information about each and determine whom is making the best sparkling wine. This will be held at a private apartment in St Katherine’s docks, info sent out to each attendee via email.

Info about the theme:

Champagne needs no introduction but perhaps many are not aware that the UK now produces som excellent sparkling wine using the same grapes and same methods to champagne. Initially, Bacchus and other grape variety more resistant to the cold was mainly planted but the wine estate Nyetimber took a bet to plant the champagne grapes, and the bet paid off! Especially with global warming, winemakers are looking for new lands that previously may have been too cold for planting grapes. These winemakers include Taittinger and Pommery buying land in the UK for making sparkling wines.
